MANAGEMENT STORAGE & ACCESSIBILITY
OF THE BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLAN (BCP)
Using the Concepts of Cloud Computing to Protect and Recover IT Assets
OVERVIEW
A key aspect in developing and maintaining a business continuity plan (i.e., Risk Management, Contingency/Disaster Recovery Plan, etc.) is its management, storage, and accessibility when needed.  Best practice dictates the storage of "hard copies" off-site and in a location that will not suffer the same fate (i.e., disaster) as the primary asset or site.  Depending on the size and number of assets, this could require hundreds of pounds of paper, manuals, etc. which cannot be easily updated as changes are made to assets.  The BCP should be reviewed and updated at least annually and/or when the organization makes significant changes (i.e., modifications and/or updates) to the asset.

PLAN LOGISITICS

Our product is designed to be published and updated on the organization's intranet or private cloud computing environment.  All forms and templates can be shared and populated via PC and/or Laptop from local or remote locations.  The web site itself can be co-located at the alternate site and/or a shared environment.  All documents and forms can be stored on portable devices (e.g., laptops, remote PCs, smartphones, etc.).  Archiving the business continuity plan is a matter of copying the information to CD-ROM and/or off-site storage device.

MODULARITY
All templates, tables, reports, etc. are modular.  It is not necessary to call up or download unwanted documents.  The product enables the updating, displaying, or downloading specific sections of the BCP such as Asset Control Families, Contingency Plan components, etc. by appropriate subject matter experts (SMEs).

RECOMMENDATION
When conducting a risk assessment and/or contingency management plan, save all reports to a folder for that system or application (e.g., Executive Payroll System or EPS).  RAMP, along with its assessments, should be hosted and co-located at a remote facility.  A sample of collected assessment information is located in the "named_asset_Assessment" folder.  Note:  the sample assessment folder is encrypted.
